I'm working with a number of STEM organisations at the moment and I've noticed that keeping strong talent pipelines is an increasing issue.

With a tough recruitment market, firms that do not have a family friendly culture are at risk of losing employees. Firms are facing challenges in retaining and attracting experienced female talent, which means:

  • Staff leave to seek out more family friendly employers, with firms losing employees to more progressive competitors.

  • Productivity dips, when returners go back to work without the necessary processes and support being in place. In these challenging economic times, firms need employees to make a successful return to work, so they don’t find the first few months so overwhelming they ‘Quiet Quit’ before leaving entirely.

  • Recruitment costs soar when experienced, mid-career talent leaves and needs to be replaced. Organisations find it easier to attract new staff as a family friendly employer, so that they have lower recruitment fees and experience better retention once people are in post.

The first step in creating a family friendly culture that will enable your organisation to keep and attract parents is to understand the current lived experience of your expectant and returning parents.

We have created a 'Parental Leave Questionnaire' that you can use to survey employees so that you can hear directly from them what your organisation is doing well and what can be improved, giving you the insights you need to strengthen your employee value proposition.

The Parental Leave Questionnaire is £599 and includes:

  • An Excel spreadsheet with 15 questions, devised by a parental returner specialist, so that you will gain the insights you need to highlight exactly what you must do to retain and attract returners to your organisation.

  • A mixture of multichoice and open questions, which take less than 10 minutes to complete, so that your employees will want to participate, giving you a high response rate.

  • Questions that are appropriate for any employee who has taken parental leave in the last 2 years, whether that's maternity leave, adoption leave, shared parental leave or paternity leave, so that you receive feedback from the widest possible pool of employees.

The Parental Leave Questionnaire is available to purchase right now. Once payment has been made, we'll email you the Questionnaire and Guidance Notes within one working day.

We can also run the survey for you, evaluate the responses and provide a next steps report. If this is of interest, drop me a message and we can book in a call to discuss your requirements.
